2010 EAST TEXAS CHAPTER AWARD WINNERS

Van is a small town an hour from Dallas where a person can say we know everyone and really mean it. Our town has adapted tremendously since the many years ago that I was a student. Now that I have my own children, one being a teenager, I have a huge interest in getting out and sharing what I have learned with our youth. I am currently the TCA Junior League of East Texas Co-Chair.
Whenever people say things like "I knew what I wanted to be since I was a child" I have to laugh (on the inside of course). Cooking and baking have been part of my life since I was a child but even though it was right in my face I did not realize how it made me until I paid attention. My teens and early twenties I spent a lot of time pursuing what I thought I wanted and every time it made me unhappy I found myself right back in the kitchen.
Competition is fun and even more so when you can teach kids and then see the excitement when they are having fun. I have won several competitions and done several charity events so I now plan to spend the rest of this year getting out there (along with my fellow TCA membes) making a difference with our teens.
