The regular monthly meeting of the Fort Worth Chapter, TCA was held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Tarrant Area Food Bank
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 3:36 pm.
Sgt. at Arms: Chip Annen
Roll Call, Sign In, Quorum: Round table introductions were made.
Director's Report: James Slaughter welcomed everyone and thanked Chef Vedat Lika for hosting the monthly meeting.
Secretary: No minutes were posted for June's meeting on the Texas Chefs web site.
Treasurer: Michael Morabito reported that the chapter was financially sound and currently looking for fundraising events. Motion was made to accept the report, motion passed.
Open Forum: Jim MacPhearson spoke on behalf of the Food Bank. He outlined all the various meal programs being provided in the area as well as viable numbers of meals being produced by the culinary kitchen on a regular basis. Vedat Lika, Chef Instructor at the culinary kitchen at the food bank allowed the students to introduce themselves. All were very thankful for the opportunity they have been given. Congratulations again to Chef Lika.
Old Business: The chapter is still looking for a venue for the Holiday Gala in December.
New Business: The TCA State Convention will be held this year in Beaumont. Everyone is encouraged to attend the BBQ Competition, casino night, educational seminars, knowledge bowl and of course some really great food.
Education: The push for certification continues with hopes that the Culinary School of Fort Worth will soon be an ACF certified testing site.
Membership: New member packet and welcome to Crystal Willars were presented by Chef Walter Kaufmann. Crystal is the owner/creative director for Fort Worth Foodie LLC.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 pm. Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 4th at 3:00 pm at The Covey. Meeting will be hosted by Executive Chef Sean Merchant. Minutes submitted by James Slaughter CEC
