The regular monthly meeting of the Houston Chapter, TCA was held on April 6, 2010 at San Jacinto College North at 5800 Uvalde Road, Houston, Texas 77049. The meeting was hosted by Chef Timothy Banks.
Attending: Emilio Gonzalez, Ikeshia Dennis, Cynthia Espinoza, Donna Jones, Ben Fonbuena, Steve Rudd, George Darsey, Sean Perrodin and Timothy Banks.
Guests: Kara Santana, Ferdinand Johnson, Carmen Scott and Chris Hinojosa.
Educational Program: Beverly Lowry-Bev will commit to teach a certification class for Red Cross as long as there are at least 6 people. Volunteer for American Red Cross during the time of disaster. Can use hours toward certification.
Minutes: Motion was made by Sean Perrodin and seconded by Ben Fonbuena to accept minutes.
Treasurer's Report: Felix Ford excused. Chapter is financially sound.
Associate Chair: George Darsey-George presented new product guacamole and Ecuadorian Shrimp farm raised shrimp. He also informed us that you can use these products if you don't want to make everything yourself.
Education Chair: Adam Marshall excused. Chef Ben delivered education certificate representing 1 education point for attending.
Membership Chair: Sean Perrodin-working on packets. Invited guest to attend meeting.
Certification: Ben Fonbuena-Please check out ACF website they made new updates and they would be very valuable to the members.
Director's Report: Timothy Banks-Chef Timothy Banks put to vote a request for $3000 from escrow account to be deposited into local account for scholarship donations. Rolled out student junior membership program waiving initial TCA dues. Awarded member of the month to Felicia Martinez-Krumbeck of Ace Mart Restaurant Supply, engraved plaque and $50 gift card. Chef Tim will be meeting with Chef Rick Bravo of Hotel Magnolia to discuss the Chef's Ball in the month of September. Request volunteers for Chef's Ball. Vote for scholarship donation. 8/0 votes yes to withdraw $3000 from escrow fund in San Antonio. There will be a Walter Kayser Scholarship Fund available for new student member based on volunteer want and dedication to the club. All students must be accredited students. New Business: Planning for Chef's Ball and fundraisers.
Old Business: Reported that Intercontinental Hotel is unavailable for Chef's Ball.
Adjournment: Motion was made to adjourn meeting at 7:41 pm by Sean Perrodin and seconded by Steve Rudd. Next meeting will be at Houston Food Bank, hosted by Chef Ewart Jones.
