Chef Nathan Olson and Chef Debbie Fleming presented a demo on Career Day at the new Diana Intermediate School 4-6th grades. While talking to the students about being a chef they presented demos of summer snacks which included ants on a log with marshmallow creme; how to use melon as a fruit bowl at a picnic or the beach; instuction on how to use a teaspoon or melon baller to get the fruit out and then use the half for a fruit bowl. The students loved the demo and want Chef Nathan and Chef Debbie to come back next year! | |

The Mid East Texas Chapter has purchased a new banner for the new farmers market that opened on May 15, 2010 in Longview, Texas. The market was started by the Preservation Longview, Historic Society and the Mid East Texas Chapter is proud to help sponsor. The banner was bought to put the Mid East Texas Chapter, TCA out there with the local chefs whom will be shopping this unique market which sells only fresh Texas products. Debbie Fleming, the Mid East Texas Chapter Director is on the board of directors with this great community project. If anyone knows of any farmers who would like to participate and become a vendor at the market, give Debbie Fleming a call at (903) 734-1511 or (903) 424-8392. Everything sold at the market must be home grown in Texas. The market has produce, chicken, beef, eggs, cheese, herbs, candles and wine. Everyone across Texas is invited! | |
